SPACE DAY, 2006
The Poster Contest was an unqualified success! Thanks to all the students who put so much effort into their posters and displays, and congratulations to our winners.
While some of the colleges in the area that offer degrees in aeronautics, aviation, aerospace technology, and other space-related fields were unable to attend this year's event, information was available about their programs. A special thanks to Miss Cheryl Heeter from NC State University for her participation in our Space Day Celebration.
Astronomy buffs from the area brought their telescopes to the school for a night of stargazing. The students got great views of Saturn, the moon, and Jupiter and the Galilean moons. They even caught sight of a flyover of the International Space Station. Special thanks to Mr. Brooks Harrington of Lillington and to Dr. Jonathan Breitzer of Fayetteville State University for their participation in the Star party.
Finally, our most sincere appreciation to Principal Terry Hinson, Science Teacher Amy Hanneken, and to LTC Edward Anderson and the Western Harnett JROTC cadets for their support of this year's celebration.
