I sometimes have a hard time believing that I'm both a college student, and a married woman with six kids!  I went to work immediately after graduating from high school, so college was never in the picture.  A few years ago, I began working as a substitute teacher, and discovered that I loved teaching so much I wanted to make a career of it.  I especially enjoyed working in the self-contained classroom with exceptional and/or at-risk students.  I am currently in the process of pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Middle Grades Education, with a minor in Science.

In the course of my experiences as a substitute teacher, I always strived to become the best teacher possible.  I am always on the lookout for new strategies and techniques that may prove beneficial to my students.

On a more personal note,  I am married to a wonderful man who just retired from the Air Force.  Between us, we have six children, so life at our house is never boring!  We also have several dogs.  The number of dogs changes constantly because I take in strays and try to find homes for them.  During what little free time I have, I enjoy reading, movies, crafts, going to dog shows, and spending time with my family.  They really keep things hopping around here.  Check out our photo session from Christmas, 2003!

Speaking of Christmas, one of the best Christmas gifts I ever received was this past Christmas.  My husband took me to the Museum of Natural Sciences in Raleigh to see Titanic:  The Artifact Exhibit.  Although cameras are not allowed in the exhibit itself, we did get some great pictures during our wanderings through the rest of the museum.  It was a wonderful day, and one I will never forget.
